Andrea Rivera - CMHC-I Affordable Therapy.jpg

Andrea Rivera

Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern

Andrea Rivera earned a Bachelor’s in Film and Media Arts from the University of Utah and later returned to complete a Bachelor’s in Psychology. Her background in creative expression informs her interest in how art can deepen emotional insight and connection. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University.

Andrea has provided support in a variety of care settings, including work within a hospital behavioral health unit. She primarily works with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and mood disorders. Her therapeutic approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with attention to how significant life events shape self-concept and emotional patterns.
Andrea believes that while people have many ways to express their inner experiences, identifying what needs to be expressed—and how—can be challenging. Therapy offers space for reflection, meaning-making, and growth, and creative processes can support exploration through symbolism and perspective.

She is committed to fostering self-compassion, personal understanding, and intentional growth. Andrea is especially passionate about helping adults reconnect with their sense of self and purpose, as well as supporting individuals and couples in developing communication skills, healthy boundaries, and fulfilling relationships. Andrea is trained in Gottman method couples therapy (level 1).

Andrea provides low fee therapy services to help enable all to access care.
